If you’re working with high-resolution video files in After Effects, you might want to use proxy files (which is low-resolution files) during your editing process for a smoother and more time-efficient workflow.

How to attach proxy files in After Effects

If you want to know how to create proxy files for your video material in Premiere Pro, you can check this one-minute tutorial I did about that.

(If you like this post, please consider following me! It helps a lot! 🙏)

To attach your proxy files, right-click on your video file in the “Project”-window, go down to “Set proxy” and click “File”.

Here, you pick your proxy file and then click “Open”.

Now, a little checkbox is created right next to your video file in the “Project”-window and when you click that box you toggle the proxy file on and off.
