How to create typing text animation
If you want a text to appear word by word in After Effects, or character by character, there is an easy way to achieve this.
First you create your text layer by clicking the symbol in the toolbar, then click somewhere inside the Composition window and start typing.
(You can also right click in the timeline window, go to “New”, “Text” and then type your text.)
Then, go back to the timeline window, open your layer and next to “Text”, click “Animate”.
Here you can add different animations or effects to your text and we are going to choose “Character Offset”.
The next step, is to go to Animator 1 (which refers to the effect you just added), click “Add” right next to it, choose “Property” to add a new property to this animation and then click “Opacity”.
Now change the Opacity to 0% so that the range selected (from the start of the text to the end of the text) is invisible. Click “Range Selector 1” and set a keyframe on “Start” by clicking on the little stopwatch right next to it.
Now the starting values are set (where you don’t see any text). Now we’re going to set the ending values, where the text is visible.
