I have this progressbar I created in After Effects that I want to insert and add on top of my clip. How do I do that?

First, I go to the “Essential Graphics” window and click the “Browse”-tab. I then click the icon in the bottom right corner where it says “Install Motion Graphics template”.

How to insert motion graphic templates (mogrts)

I pick the file I exported from After Effects and then I click “Open”. Make sure it’s a mogrt-file. Now, I just drag this animation down to my timeline, on top of my video. Now, when I select this Motion Graphic template in the timeline, notice how it switches from “Browse” to “Edit” in the “Essential Graphics” window.

🎞 See the tutorial here!

Here you can edit your template with the properties that you added to this mogrt-file inside of After Effects before exporting it from After Effects.

I want to move the bar down just a little bit so it looks a bit smaller.
Now, there is one important thing with this particular animation (see the tutorial here). I can’t drag this out to cover the video and I don’t want to do that either, because then the progressbar won’t match the timing of the video.

Instead, what I do, is that I click “R” to switch over to the “Rate stretch tool”. So now you can stretch the speed of this progressbar to match your clip. Now the progressbar should be perfectly adjusted to match your clip.

If you want to see how I created this motion graphic template and exported it from Adobe After Effects, I will upload those two videos and put in a playlist together with this one so that you can follow the whole process from start to finish.
