If you want to slow down or speed up a motion inside Adobe Premiere Pro, you can do this using “keyframes”.

In this example, I’ve created 2 identical nametags, and placed them on top of each other. One is yellow and one is grey.

When I play this, both nametags are sliding in from the left in a very boring and linear way.

I’m going to show you how you can make this movement more smooth but also share a bonus tip at the end.

If we select the grey one and go to the “Effect Controls” window and open the effect “Transform”, you can see that I’ve animated this nametag by putting two different keyframes next to the property “Position”.
A starting point and an endpoint.

If you open up the Position property, you can actually see the speed of the movement, which in this case is linear.

If you now right-click on the second keyframe, where the motion ends, go down to “temporal interpolation” and click “Ease In”, the movement will now slow down as it moves closer to the second keyframe.

To make this change even more extreme, you can drag out the handle under the keyframe so it slows down smoothly at the end.
