How to split a clip in Adobe After Effects
Sometimes you want to split a clip in After Effects, the same way
you split a clip in Premiere Pro, but how do you do that?
Well, you can split a clip, but it will look a bit different from Premiere.
First, place the playhead where you want the clip to start or end. Then, you can either drag the edge of the clip (or layer) to where the playhead is and this will hide everything that looks grey here in the timeline. Or, you can use a keyboard shortcut, which is “cmd + shift + D” to cut the clip at the point of the playhead.
As you can see, this will not “cut” the clip as you know it from Premiere Pro but it will split the clip into two layers. After adjusting the clips start and end with this keyboard shortcut, simply click the parts you want to delete and click delete.
And that’s how you cut a clip in Adobe After Effects.
